The idea behind Spacehardware designs is to take a step back to the early eighties and revisit the immediate control offered by the synth interface back then, push the sound shaping further, and build instruments that are interactive, tweakable and playable.

Digital vs Analog

Analog tends to be seen as being the genuine article and offering full control over the sound, whereas digital has connotations of being either difficult to program (eg the DX7), or just an imitation of analog as in a lot of VA synths from the last 15 years.
However it is possible to be very creative with sound generation and processing using digital circuits AND give the user full control over the sound. And it's possible to have the best of both worlds in a hybrid digital/analog synth.
